FocusCoE is a coordination and support action (CSA) funded through the European Commission’s Horizon 2020 Programme, running from December 2018 until November 2021.

The objective of the European Extreme Data & Computing Initiative (EXDCI) is to coordinate the development and implementation of a common strategy for the European HPC Ecosystem.    

As a result of both the hardware development and the objective of achieving scalability to even higher CPU numbers, we now see new demands on programming models in terms of a flexible thread model, asynchronous communication, and the management of storage subsystems with varying bandwidth and latency

Fortissimo is a collaborative project that will enable European SMEs to be more competitive globally through the use of simulation services running on a High Performance Computing cloud infrastructure.

The core objective of Fortissimo 2 is to promote the uptake of advanced modelling, simulation and data analytics services by European small and medium enterprises in the manufacturing sector.

The situation in Pharmaceutical and bio-chemistry sectors is made more extreme by the reliance on multi-modal information in publications and documents as chemical structures are not just represented in text form but also as structure diagrams.
