The High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart (HLRS) of the University of Stuttgart supports researchers from Germany and Europe as well as industry with leading edge supercomputing technology. HLRS has recently decided to invest in the GPI software developed by Fraunhofer ITWM which will provide users the possibility to move to a PGAS (Partitioned Global Address Space) programming model and at the same time achieve levels of scaling beyond that achievable with MPI (message-passing interface).
